The new year provides an opportunity to reconsider our health goals—and that includes our diet!
To help you along your wellness journey, we’ve enlisted a little help from the team at Nuts Galore. If you’re a Hills District local, you may recognise the store—the team have been a prominent fixture of Castle Towers since they opened their doors in 1994.
Today the knowledgeable team are sharing six of their favourite nuts and nut mixes to consider. They’re the perfect snack to go for, instead of reaching for the chocolate bar when an afternoon craving kicks in.
King Mix
First of the rank, the Nuts Galore team recommend their delicious ‘King Mix’. This mixture is their own blend of selected nuts such as almonds, walnuts, cashews, macadamias and more.
The Nuts Galore team tell us the King Mix is ‘tasty but also seriously good for you too!’
Walnuts
The team say, ‘Walnuts are rich in heart-healthy fats and high in antioxidants. What's more, regularly eating walnuts may improve brain health and reduce your risk of heart disease and cancer.’
These nuts are easily incorporated into your diet, as they can be enjoyed on their own or added to many different foods. We recommend adding them to a salad for a healthy crunch!
Macadamia
We can never go past a fresh Macadamia nut and their smooth, creamy texture.
‘Macadamia nuts are rich in vitamins, minerals, fibre, antioxidants, and healthy fats,’ says the Nuts Galore team.
‘Their potential benefits include weight loss, improved gut health, and protection against diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and heart disease.’
Almonds
There’s a reason many refer to almonds as ‘brain food’.
The team tell us, ‘Almonds help your ticker stay healthy. They lower bad cholesterol and are packed with vitamin E, magnesium and potassium, which helps oxygen and nutrients flow more freely through the blood.’
Cashews
Although Cashews are commonly referred to as tree nuts, did you know they’re actually seeds? Despite this, they share similar nutrient qualities to the nuts we all know and love.
The team explain, ‘Cashews are low in sugar and rich in fibre, heart-healthy fats, and plant protein. They're also a good source of copper, magnesium, and manganese — nutrients important for energy productions brain health, immunity, and bone health.’
Brazil Nuts
And last but not least? Allow us to recommend the delicious Brazil nut.
The team add, ‘Brazil nuts are nutritional powerhouses, providing healthy fats, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. They're particularly high in selenium, a mineral with potent antioxidant properties. Eating Brazil nuts may reduce inflammation, support brain function, and improve your thyroid function and heart health.’
